On May 12, Team Adam Levine singer Christina Grimmie gave a rousing performance of Some Nights by Fun. Recounting her days growing up in Marlton, New Jersey, Christina remembered it as being awkward and a little dull. However, when Christina decided to move out to L.A., her mother moved to the west coast with her to help her daughter pursue a career in music. Of course it was hard to leave her friends behind, but being on The Voice showed her that her family and friends in her hometown havent forgotten about her. As a result, Christina dedicated the fun Fun. song to her friends and family back home who are watching her grow up and experience life.
Coach Blake Shelton thought that Christina chose a song that was very different from her usual sound and immensely enjoyed it. Usher told Christina that it was an amazing moment for her with a million balloons surrounding her and this was a make or break moment that she definitely pulled off. Shakira called Christinas performance fun, and an expression of who she is as a creative artist. Last but not least, Adam told Christina that hes proud of her for sticking to her guns on the show instead of singing music just to pander to people or gain a response that might win but makes her lose sight of the artist she wants to be.
