Watch the YouTube sensations magical new video before she resumes her spot on Selena Gomezs tour.
Nineteen-year-old singer-songwriter Christina Grimmie has quickly moved beyond her (highly successful) YouTube covers and has established herself as a recording artist to keep an eye on with her new album "With Love." "Tell My Mama," a standout cut from the full-length, has been given a brightly colored music video, launching exclusively on Billboard.com:
Grimmie says that her new single is "about a guy that I start liking in school, and hes sort of a dangerous kid, and I am the type of girl that tells my mom about everything"; accordingly, the "Tell My Mama" video, directed by David Turvey, lets that scenario play out, with Grimmie catching a ride in her new bad boys red convertible and conjuring a concerned look from her mother. Eventually Grimmie gets caught in the middle of her moms supernatural wrath and her guys leather-jacket magic -- but luckily, the young songwriter has a few powers of her own.
"Ive always wanted to involve something in a video, like magic and powers," says Grimmie. "So it was awesome to have that be the focus of the video. The boy in the video is not a partier, a druggie, or anything like that. He has flippin SUPER POWERS. Beat that."
The Los Angeles-based singer has worked with producers like Toby Gad and Jacob Kasher after spending years garnering a devoted YouTube following, which has now reached 2.3 million subscribers. Grimmie will continue supporting "Tell My Mama" and the rest of "With Love" by resuming her opening spot of Selena Gomezs Stars Dance arena tour on Oct. 18.

The Voice Season 6 First Look: Watch the Cover of Miley Cyrus "Wrecking Ball" That Turns All 4 Chairs Now!
Move over, Miley Cyrus!
Its not easy to get all four coaches on The Voice to turn their chairs for you when you take the stage, but thats exactly what Christina Grimmie does in the NBC reality hits season-six premiere on Monday, Feb. 24, thanks to her amazing cover of Cyrus hit single "Wrecking Ball."
Weve got your exclusive first look at Christinas performance that causes four chairs to turn and a civil war to ignite amongst coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher to land the talented 19-year-old singer, who already has quite the fan following on YouTube!
"its going to get bloody and were going to fight," Levine says of all four coaches wanting the singer, saying his six seasons of experience give him an advantage.
Shakiras rebuttal? "He hasnt had a day off. Hes tired! In season four, I might have been hormonal and sleepless, but now Im rested and focused as laser!" Usher, meanwhile, decided that offering up praise was the best approach. "This is about your voice. You were phenomenal," he gushes. "I plan on winning this entire thing with you."
Blake gets the final sales pitch, telling Christina that this isnt about him or the other three coaches. "This is about you and what you want to do," he says. "I just want to help you figure out whatever that is and make you the winner of the show."
It was on the first season six episode of "The Voice" that we met Bria Kelly and Christina Grimmie, two singers with the pipes and personality to win NBCs hit singing competition. It would be nine and 10 episodes, respectively, before wed see them perform a second time. In that span, many promising performers took to the stage to make a case for the crown, but none matched these two standouts.
After winning their first "Battle Round," Bria and Christina are just one round away from competing on the live shows, where the audience will decide which singer (or group) will win "The Voice."
Last Monday, we watched Bria square off against Tess Boyer for Team Usher. The singers were asked to pair up on the iconic Janis Joplins "Piece of My Heart."
Seemingly, the song would be right up Brias alley. She is, of course, a gritty, Janis-style rock singer with a powerful voice and a strong stage presence. But Bria seemed a little uneasy sharing the song with Tess, a former NFL cheerleader.
"I mean ... its not every day, because I come from such a small town, that I get to sing with someone as good as Tess," Bria told BTS. "Because, again, Im not used to singing with other people. Like, Im the frontrunner of my band. And Im not used to singing with other people. And when I do sing with other people, theyre singing harmonies behind me. So it wasnt, it wasnt that hard. I thought it was cool. Like to be honest with you, I thought it was a cool experience.
"Its not necessarily the fact that it was difficult. It was different and I really, really enjoyed getting the opportunity to be able to just make a kickass performance."
Usher chose Bria to continue on in the competition. He said, "I think that Bria, ultimately, connected to the song more than Tess. And I think we can go far."
"As far as ability to sing, theres something about Bria. And I am so terrified of Team Usher, right now, because of you," coach Adam Levine told Bria.
Bria said the first "Battle Round" prepared her for the second duet-duel, which already taped and will air in coming episodes.
"It really helped to know that I was - I started off singing the song, like, definitely with my tough-face faade that I have," she said. "You know, obviously, I come off like Im really badass. But for this song, I definitely had to become a little bit more vulnerable onstage. And, I, I mean, I didnt have my guitar, so I had to, like, move around. But basically, vulnerability is a key thing that I took away from all of the, all of the feedback, all of the comments that I got from (mentor Jill Scott) and Usher. (It) was definitely just being able to open myself up." Pop-R&B artist Christinas first "Battle" was montaged Tuesday, meaning we only saw a few moments of the matchup. Christinas coach, Adam, said she only scratched the surface of her potential. Describing the performance, Christina told BTS, "I battled Joshua Howard. And our song was I Knew You Were Trouble by Taylor Swift. "Our battle was interesting, because it was a little more cutout for me more so than Josh Howard. However, I dont think that I particularly did the song any, like, major justice. And you know we - I think we came together at the end. At the end of the day, we had a great show and it was fun.
"And Adam, you know, like he said he saw potential in me. And I cant be any more grateful for that. But you know the fact that I was showed for even a second was kind of a blessing, still. So, it was a good battle, overall, I have to say."
Like Bria, Christina said her first "Battle Round" performance made her a stronger competitor. She said her next TV appearance will reveal more of who she is as a singer.
"Well I feel like, definitely so far, performing with another person really helps your energy," Christina said. "And for me, especially, I already have a ton of energy. But with another person I feel like my performance just gets a little bit better. And I get way more into it. And I feel like for this future battle that youre going to be sticking around for, its going to be great. And I feel like I really get to show who I am as an artist and a performer.
"And its always a little tougher with another person. But that fact theres a little more energy there I just - you know its a great time. Its a little different than performing just by yourself. But thats what makes it special."
"The Voice" continues Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. on NBC.

This week The Voice judges narrowed their teams to the final 12, and Marltons Christina Grimmie (Team Adam Levine) made the cut. The Star Ledger recaps her performance:
Marlton native Christina Grimmie led the way on Monday nights The Voice Playoffs Round, giving arguably the strongest vocal of the night as teams Adam Levine and Shakira were cut from five singers apiece to just three.
In the two-hour showcase, Adams group well outshined Shakiras delivering three knockout performances from a trio of singers who each could go deep into next weeks live rounds.
Christina [who sang Jason Mrazs "I Wont Give Up"] has the perfect voice for studio recording. And, apparently, live performances. This was sensational coming from the pint-sized powerhouse. Every word was sung crisply, her head voice was elegant and her higher register slayed over and over. How do you do that? Blake asked. Everything you do up there unbelievable, Adam said.

What happens when a 20-year-old female YouTube sensation and Top 10 The Voice finalist chooses to cover R&B sensation Drake?
That seeming vocal gamble came up aces for Christina Grimmie, who brought the idea to sing Drakes "Hold On, Were Going Home" to her coach, Adam Levine. He believed in her artistry and allowed her to take the risk. And in doing so, she set the pace Monday, accompanying herself on the piano and using the ballad to look and sound like a full-blown star.
"Im amazed at the range and the control and the depth of her voice," said Levines own mentor, Graham Nash, who was extremely impressed by Grimmies talent.
"At 20 years old, thats insane," Nash told Levine.
Blake Shelton joined the other coaches in agreeing that Grimmie was dazzling with her own unique take singing a male artists hit. "That sounded like your song and you created that. It was unbelievable," he said.
What do you think of her performance? Sound off in the comment section below!
Check out the full The Voice recap at People.com.
Christina ended the night with another incredible performance. She was reeling from the loss of her two best friends, Bria Kelly and Tess Boyer, in elimination last week, but wasnt going to let that effect the competition.
She was also worried she couldnt top last weeks amazing Drake cover, but Adam had a plan. He offered up How to Love by Lil Wayne as her follow-up performance and she went with it. She slowed the song down and made it her own. The result was a powerhouse performance that was easily one of the best of the night. Even Adam was mesmerized by her vocal ability.
Blake told Christina, You look and sound like a superstar. Shakira was floored with how much artistry Christina had. All in all, it was sheer magic watching Christina transform that song.

VOICE VIEWS: Christina Grimmie, Josh Kaufman score iTunes hits for The Voice

Josh Kaufman and Christina Grimmie have scored iTunes hits for The Voice.
As of noon EST Tuesday, both were sitting in the Top 10 on iTunes overall singles chart.
That means theyll earn bonus points toward the season finale. And toward hanging around for the Top 5, as if that was in question.s not the first time theyve accomplished the feat.
Josh turned the trick on Top 12 night with his version of "Stay With Me." Christina cracked the Top 10 last week with "Hold On, Were Going Home."
As of noon, Josh was sitting at number two on iTunes with "I Cant Make You Love Me." Three spots back was Christina with her cover of "How to Love."
For a look at where all The Voice singers are sitting on iTunes after their Top 8 night performances, head here. The results are pretty incredible. All but one song from Mondays show cracked the Top 10 on a genre chart.
The Voice has shortened the finals this spring so Season 6 can wrap up before Memorial Day. Hence last weeks triple elimination. Hence this weeks performance-results combo which will presumably cut the field down to a final three.
Last week, the show bid farewell to three singers who had turned four chairs during the blind auditions in vocal powerhouse Sisaundra Lewis, returning singer Delvin Choice and Philadelphia gal Audra McLaughlin.
That leaves us with five talented vocalists.
Heres how Im ranking them heading into Mondays show. Last weeks rankings are in parenthesis.
1. Christina Grimmie (1, Team Adam): You dont get 2 million followers by posting covers on YouTube if you arent an incredibly talented singer. And Christina has shown us just how talented she is in the past two weeks with her unique take on a pair of tunes originally recorded by rappers. I doubt shell do that three times in a row. I have no doubt she will be singing in next weeks finals since shes the best singer still standing.
2. Josh Kaufman (5, Team Usher): The guy from Indianapolis has emerged as Christinas top challenger for the Season 6 crown in spite of lackluster song choices by Usher. This is It by Kenny Loggins? The oft-done I Cant Make You Love Me by Bonnie Raitt? Regardless, the latter was the best-selling single from Top 8 week and earned Josh bonus points for the second time, matching Christina. No one else in the Top 5 has cracked the iTunes Top 10.
3. Jake Worthington (2, Team Blake): Hey, Jake went up-tempo last week, singing Hillbilly Deluxe. Now, Im not sure he proved he has a side, which was Blakes apparent goal, but the crowd loved it and Jake looked more comfortable on stage than the week before when he was performing a ballad. The combination of Jakes country charm and Blakes popularity will likely be enough to get the Texas lad into the finals.
4. Kristen Merlin (3, Team Shakira): She has been the surprise of Season 6. Hey, she turned just two chairs during the blind auditions, and here she is a week away from the finals, cracking the Top 10 on iTunes country chart on a weekly basis. Truth be told, shes a better, more emotional country balladeer than Jake. I just think the country voters are more likely to go for the cowboy hat and Jakes aw-shucks persona.
5. Kat Perkins (7, Team Adam): How talented and popular are the contestants on The Voice? Just ask Kat. She has topped the iTunes rock chart for three straight weeks, and she still needed two instant saves to advance this far. That means the odds get even longer this week on a show where a female rocker hasnt made the finals since Season 2 when Juliet Simms finished second.
The Voice continues on NBC tonight at 8/7c. Be sure to check it out and see how Christina does in the semi-finals!
