Over the weekend, Christina teased her fans with a glimpse of the lyrics to Must Be Love.

They read, It must be love/It must be love/It must be loooooove, Its in my heart eh/Its in my body, It must be loooooove/raowr!

A Relaxed and Revealing Conversation with Christina Grimmie

From AXS.com - Photo and Article by Allen Foster

Its been a few months since AXS last spoke with Christina Grimmie, the radiant top 3 finalist from season 6 of NBCs The Voice. Back in October, Christina was working with Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood in conjunction with Prizeo for their Pinktober campaign in an effort to raise money for City of Hope, a leading research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes, and life threatening diseases.

AXS caught up with Grimmie backstage in the green room at Freehold New Jerseys premier family entertainment center, iPlay America. The artist had just finished her sound check and was relaxing by noshing on pizza with members of her family and her band (Marcus Grimmie on guitar, Jonathan LaMarche on bass, and Robert Plizak on drums) before performing as headliner at her show, which also featured Erin Bowman and The Weekend Riot.

AXS: The last time we spoke was back in October, whats been going on in your career since then?

Christina: Since the Hard Rock and Prizeo? Ive been doing a lot of shows and performing my originals along with the covers that I did on The Voice. This is definitely the most consecutive performing Ive done in a while, its cool to play shows every other night.

AXS: And tonight, youre in Freehold, New Jersey for your concert at iPlay America. Youre originally from around here, arent you?

Christina: Yes, Im from Marlton, New Jersey and I havent been back here for two years, so Im really excited about tonight. Besides my fans, Im going to get to see a lot of my family whom I havent seen in a while!

AXS: So, how did this gig come together? Did you know you were coming home for the holidays and decide to book this show?

Christina: I was actually not even planning on coming home for Christmas, at all, so when I found out about the show being booked, I was all excited, Oh, Im going to go home early for Christmas and surprise my friends and my family!

AXS: On a side note, my son was hoping to come to the show tonight, but he injured himself pretty badly while LARPing!

Christina: LARPing?! Really?! Ive never been, but to be honest Ive always wanted to! LARPing is cool. I kind of dated this guy in high school... and thats all he did on the weekends.

AXS: Wait, back up a minute... how do you kind of date someone?

Christina: Well, it was a really complicated situation, I was young and I wasnt really allowed to date, but we kind of did anyway, so, thats how you kind of date someone (laughing). Long story short, he super hardcore cheated on me... so I wrote a song about him!

AXS: And thats what launched your songwriting career, right? (laughing)

Christina: Well, the song Im playing tonight called Liar Liar... its about him. And, he knows it, too!

AXS: Is he going to be here, tonight?

Christina: No, no, no! He would never come to my show. I promise. (laughing)

AXS: Later in January, youre leaving for a European tour, do I have that right?

Christina: Yes, Im going to Europe, which I am really excited about because Ive only been to London once and I barely even count it as being there because I was only there for such a small amount of time. But this time, Im going for a month! The tour starts in Finland on January 26 and it ends in Glasgow on February 25, so its a solid month-long tour.

AXS: I know you cant really talk much beyond this European tour because plans are still being made regarding other aspects of your career... but what do you hope happens in 2015?

Christina: There will be new music in 2015, for sure. And, Im hoping to do a Christmas album next year, too, because Ive always done Christmas covers, but Ive never done a whole album.

AXS: Speaking of Christmas covers, that YouTube video of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel that you did for Tyler Ward for the World Food Program is so moving, its like going to church!

Christina: Thats one of my favorite Christmas songs ever! That and Oh Holy Night.

AXS: Your voice is so incredible on that song! What was the recording process like for that video?

Christina: Funny story about that cover... I lost my voice about two weeks prior and I already knew that I was going to be doing that Christmas song for this particular project, so I was freaking out! I kind of got my voice back, but it was in no way ready to belt -- and, it was a no instruments, all voice cover of the song, too! What was I supposed to do? I super prepped for it and when I got there, I stood on this holiday set in front of a microphone, we put a little bit of reverb on my voice, and I just sang. By the end, my voice was shot! I was so nervous for that.

AXS: You nervous? How could someone with a voice as amazing as yours ever be nervous?

Christina: I get nervous because everyone expects me to be good! If my voice starts wearing out on me, its embarrassing!

AXS: I guess I could see that, you do have a reputation to live up to. Did this experience cause you to change your approach to singing or anything?

Christina: I didnt change my technique, if thats what you mean, but I had to be quiet for a while ... I couldnt even talk, which was very hard for me! But I did get plenty of rest because sleep is one of the most foolproof ways to heal your voice. And, fun fact, that is one of the fastest healing parts of your body! All you have to do is shut up and it will heal... but I have an issue doing that sometimes! (laughing)

AXS: Youre getting ready to go perform, we talked about coming home, your European tour, how to take care of your voice, your hopes for 2015 ... and we even talked about LARPing! Is there anything else we should mention?

Christina: My single, Must Be Love, is out now and you can find it on iTunes or Spotify, but other than that, thats about it!

Nothing but Love for Christina Grimmie

From PhilippineConcerts.com - By Isabel Matias

Christina Grimmie was moved to tears from the massive love that she felt during her first show in the country. Filipino Frands, as her fans are called, have been a strong force of support from the beginning. Seeing this support through her recent mall tour in the country filled her with an overwhelming sense of gratitude.

Her tour kicked off at the Alabang Town Center with the second show three hours later at Glorietta. The third and final show was held the following day at Trinoma. During her show at the Alabang Town Center last October 4, 2014, Christina expressed how she had been longing to visit the Philippines because of her Filipino fans.

Dressed in an all-black ensemble, she emerged for the first time on Philippine stage after a snippet of her latest single, Must Be Love, was played on screen. The activity center was ringing with screams and shouts, an expression of love, no doubt. Opening her set was her song, Tell My Mama.

The stage was simple. Aside from the curtain-like backdrop, playfully lit throughout the show, and huge screen, the only thing on stage was a piano. As soon as Christina stepped on stage, she carried the whole show with her. She was a fireball of energy with a spectacular voice.

Christina asked her fans to help sing Absolutely Final Goodbye. She told them to sing the word as loud as they could. Each time the crowd sang goodbye, their voices resonated throughout the mall. Christina proclaimed that the crowd was louder than the time she had gone on tour with Selena Gomez, and performed in an arena.

She then sang a song that she introduced as something people may have heard her sing from The Voice: Wrecking Ball. She showcased the amazing vocal range and talent that she is known for.

After dancing, fist pumping, and maximizing the stage, Christina sat by the piano and serenaded the audience. She did a cover song, which was Drakes Hold On, a song she said she had an idea with for one of her performances on The Voice.

Christina spoke to her fans as if she was talking to her close friends. She asked, Were you in a relationship and that person just lied and lied? Sing this to whoever broke your heart. She then launched into playing a medley of Liar Liar and Titanium. It was such a seamless transition that it was a surprise when she admitted that the mash-up was a decision she made on the spot.

Christina was dedicating her next song to her Frands when she burst into tears overwhelmed by the love and support from her Filipino fans. She covered her face with her hands, but the screaming only got louder.

As she composed herself and sat behind the piano, a man came rushing up on stage and handed her a box of tissues. This triggered her to laugh. The song dedicated to her loyal supporters was none other than With Love.

Her heart-felt ballad was followed by an upbeat song called Feelin Good. The show came to a full circle as Christina concluded her set with Must Be Love. Still awed by her fans, she spent a few seconds observing the crowd, like she was trying to capture the moment in a time capsule, not wanting the moment to end.

Filipino Frands will agree when I say that in all three shows and during her stay in the Philippines Christina was welcomed with nothing but love!

From iHeart Radio Blog - By Christina Grimmie

Hey everyoneChristina Grimmie here, the winner of Macys iHeartRadio Rising Star competition 2015! Woo hoo! :)

I really have no words to express how grateful I am, and Im honestly a little surprised to have come out on top. After all, so many talented people were involved in this competition! All I know is that I couldnt have done it without my incredible and persistent fans. Team Grimmie has always been a force to be reckoned with. I went into this competition kind of skeptical, not sure how on earth could I beat out the 24 other amazing artists with crazy fan bases. But Team Grimmie voted and supported me every day like the little soldiers that they arethey are the main reason that I do what I do, and I honestly cant thank them enough!

I guess I should back up a second to say: for those of you that dont know much about me, I started off as a YouTube cover singer and piano player and started releasing my own music shortly after. Then, last year, I went on The Voice and made it all the way to third place! The thing that I think sets me apart from most people is that I only aspire to get better at what I do, whether thats singing or making videos or performing live on stage. When performing, I love getting the crowd involved at my shows. In my book, if youre not having conversations with the audience during your show, youre doing something wrong. ;)

When Im not on stage or writing music, I play video games and read manga. Im kind of a dorkand also a total goofball. Being able to laugh at yourself sometimes definitely makes life easier.

Anyway, Im really looking forward to getting on the iHeartRadio Music Festival stage in September and giving the audience the best dang show theyve ever seen! In the meantime, heres my newest single. I hope you like it!

And last but not least: thank you Macys, thank you iHeartRadiojust thank you for everything.

AXS Interview: Christina Grimmie owes it all to her fans

From AXS.com - By Allen Foster

Whether shes lighting up the concert stage with her immaculate voice, striving for a Penta Kill in League of Legends, binging on episodes on Netflix, noshing on ravioli to refuel, or just being her goofy YouTube self, Christina Grimmie radiates an infectious charisma that is genuine and absolutely endearing. Her fans are more than music enthusiasts, they are devoted Grimmie activists who help Christina accomplish some pretty amazing goals. Recently, the members of Team Grimmie helped their idol become a champion when she won the Macys iHeart Radio Rising Star competition.

ve never been in a contest that was so fan involved before, Christina told AXS in a recent interview. Basically, the fans would vote and whoevers fans voted the most, that person won. We came out on top, so they really just came through for me, but it was very nerve-racking. On that last day of voting, I literally looked at the computer for about seven hours straight, just following everyone who voted. I was scrolling... click, scrolling... click, scrolling... click, the whole day!

And thats the kind of relationship that Grimmie has with her fans. Sometimes they help her and she gives back, but mostly, shes just always open, honest, and generously giving of herself and her supporters respond by showing their appreciation. Christina creates engaging update videos filled with personality and charm. She is a gamer who makes her screen identity public and announces when and what shell be playing. She supports causes and partakes in charities that allow Grimmie enthusiasts direct access to her. Other artists might say that their fans mean the world to them, but Christina proves it, day in and day out.

I try to always be that way because the minute I find myself not being that way... thats when you know theres problems, she declared passionately.

As an example of the type of relationship that the artist forges with her followers, roughly one week after Christina made her iHeart Radio victory announcement, an ambitious follower made an incredible YouTube tribute. The Songified video that was done by a fan, it was so funny! she expressed. ve always wanted this done to me and no one has ever made one, so I posted it everywhere! The 2015 iHeartRadio Music Festival will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 18 and 19. Winning the competition means that Grimmie will be opening the entire show. m not sure how long it is, maybe a 20 to 30-minute set, but I have the opening slot for the entire show, which is unreal! Ive been dying to perform something like this! Its so exciting. Additionally, Grimmie has been working on some new music. I cant really say much about the new music... except that there might be a new single coming out before the iHeartRadio show, Christina teased. I would hate to have a show at such a big arena and not be able to perform some new ones. I also dont want to keep my fans waiting forever! I just cant stress enough how big of a deal this is to me and what a big step it is for my career and just how thankful I am to my fans for constantly keeping at it!

From Glamour.com - By Jessica Radloff

The first half of 2015 has been very good to 21-year-old Christina Grimmie. She recently won Macys Rising Star iHeartRadio competition after returning from her first European headline tour, shell open the iHeartRadio festival in Vegas this September, shes releasing new music in the fall, and her single, "Cliche," peaked at number 7 on the iTunes chart. Not bad for someone who was so shy she initially had trouble talking to her fans on YouTube. And in the years in between, shes independently released two albums, won an American Music Award, finished in the top three of The Voice season six, opened for Selena Gomez, and performed on Dancing With the Stars. If you dont know Christina Grimmie already, its about time you start.

Glamour: Congrats on the Macys iHeart Radio Rising Star! Howd you celebrate when you heard you won?

Christina Grimmie: Thank you! I was such a fan of everyone in the top five. My family and I did one of those at-home celebrations. I freaked out when my manager called to tell me. I dont know what on earth I was thinking because I cant remember it, but I was jumping around and did a lap around my house. [Laughs] I had no idea how that happened, but I thank my fans for being so persistent.

Glamour: Youll open the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas in September. Have you started planning it?

Christina: I havent stopped thinking about it! One of my favorite bands in the world right now is Walk the Moon and they are playing [at iHeart]. I went to see them in Santa Barbara a couple of weeks ago and they were amazing. Im so excited. Im their biggest fan.

Glamour: They need to have you join them onstage then in Vegas.

Christina: Oh gosh, I would love to come out onstage. I kinda of want them to be like, "So this girl is a big fan from way back in the day and she won iHeart! So come out onstage!" [Laughs]

Glamour: Your YouTube account is zeldaxlove64. Why the name?

Christina: I made that account before I even knew I wanted to start posting music. I just made it so I could comment on videos and be on YouTube basically. As for the name, one of my favorite video games is The Legend of Zelda, so I just made it out of my fangirly-ness for Zelda. It was such a teenager middle-school account name! But I didnt want to lose it either, and when I started posting videos on it, of course I had no idea it was going to blow up like it did.

Christina Grimmie Talks 'The Voice,' Her New Album And Giving Back To Her Fans

At just 21 years of age, singer Christina Grimmie is living her dream as a successful YouTube star turned mainstream artist. Now, with some of her biggest challenges ahead, shes looking back to her fans to remember why she does it all in the first place.

Many may know Grimmie from her popular YouTube page. Others may know her from Season 6 of NBCs massively successful singing competition series The Voice, where she can boast the accolade of having reached the top 3 contestants that year. Since that time, her already successful music career has been on a skyrocket trajectory with no end in sight.

The Voice gave me the exposure that YouTube was never able to provide for me, just because I didnt have a label or that kind of opportunity before, Grimmie told International Business Times in a phone interview. It also kind of trained me as person and performer with an audience. I mean, live TV is so hard to get used to. Ive never done anything as nerve wracking as The Voice. It was a big, big, big help for me.

While she thanks the singing competition for making her who she is today, shes proven herself again by winning the 2015 Macys Rising Star iHeartRadio competition. As a result, her next stop is Las Vegas to perform in the iHeartRadio Music Festival, where shell open alongside some of the most talented artists in the world, including her personal favorite band Walk The Moon. She referred to the show as the biggest performance of her life, even bigger than her time spent on The Voice.

Not only will she be playing to the fans that voted her the winner, shell be taking the opportunity to debut her new single, which drops Thursday. With so much going on in her life right now, some may be surprised to learn that Grimmie is also crafting a brand new album set for release later this year. When asked about the album, she revealed that she takes pride in being able to say that its got a little bit of everything.

When I write music, I know a lot of artists like Taylor Swift or Ed Sheeran tend to write from personal experience. I write from personal experience, of course, but I dont limit myself to that. In this album Ive done a lot of vicarious writing. I like to channel other people and other peoples experiences, Grimmie told IBTimes. I feel like theres only so much you could get out of personal experience, but when you write vicariously through other people, you can get into a lot more.

With so many huge wins already under her belt, its hard for her to imagine what will come next after the Las Vegas show and the new album. In the end, she says its her desire to be a role model to her fans that moves her career forward.

Just being a girl coming from YouTube, I know what its like to have a very humble, simple beginning. It would be kinda crazy for my fans if I made it huge in that way and became the next big thing. I wanna be able to do it for them and say, look, this is what youve done for me, she said. I want to be able to show people that I have flaws and they have flaws too. And you know what that means? No one out there is perfect. I have a lot of teens looking up to me asking how to feel pretty and accepted. I just want to show people that its OK to be a little weird and a little lost because its not that big of a deal when it comes down to it.

You can check out Grimmies brand new single on her website or check out some of her other videos on her YouTube page.
